I believe everyone has given up on me.

Honey and I are going to lose 30 lbs

I shopped for healthy food. Had a turkey wrap for lunch. Only good stuff.

I hate to ditch the ice cream but I have too. Keeping the 10 calorie popsicles though. Of course, I forgot to weigh this am.

Tomorrow at 8:30 I have another "procedure" to try to stop the anemia.

It might be a good thing to try to get a job but I seldom lost weight when I was working. And I doubt I could work an 8hr day, much less stand up for that time as a bank teller. Heck, sometimes I can't walk a half mile without my ankle seizing up.

Monday, July 5, 2010

Ugh! Again

I feel awful. I am having dieting side effects. Also, from new iron pill I have to take for Anemia. This sucks. I am bloated. Ugh! I had been losing weight but only eating twice a day. That isn't going to work because I cannot deal with this slowed down belly stuff. Even taking medicine for it didn't help and now I have an iron pill twice a day that constipates. (Till you get used to it, it says) Yeah, right. I might have to call in the Fleet!

Home Again Yay!

The first thing I noticed was someone left the oven on, and the heater, stove, bbq, hot water heater. Full blast heat. Man, it is cooler up there. Whew!

I weighed at night and thought I had gained 4 lbs in the last three weeks, I should have, but this morning I checked and I weighed the same as when I left. Soooooo...... I decided to behave. I have a goal of looking very nice in my Mother of the Bride dress so the motivation is there.

I have been off diet cokes for a while and now off all canned drinks. Coffee, tea and water, mostly water.

I was so tired from traveling that I woke up had my coffee and went back to bed. I had and egg, pam fried on a English muffin with a spoon of orange marmalade for lunch. I just pam fried some chicken breasts that I pounded flat that mom will make into Chicken and Spaghetti. Real spaghetti. I really don't care for the good for you kind, would rather do without or make it into a sandwich. So anyway. I love you Anna, but I just can't say anyhoo. I go to the Dr. tomorrow for regular checkup and will see if he has any suggestions. I don't expect he does.

Subway

The now skinny people on Biggest Loser eat at Subway. I think I will try their breakfast one day.

Tuesday, May 25, 2010

Ugh!

My tummy hurts. Could be the Caesar Salad I have made for breakfast. Could sure use some ideas for non-fattening protein for breakfast. It was lunch yesterday. Breakfast yesterday was scrambled eggs with Gardineria, that pickled cauliflower/carrot/jalapeno/celery stuff. In a tortilla.
Last night I roasted sweet potatoes, carrots, and a couple of small white potatoes with a pork roast. We have plenty of leftovers. Ina makes a soup of leftover roasted vegetables by adding herbs and chicken broth. I figure lunch is a roast sandwich on whole wheat. Maybe soup for supper.

Thursday, May 20, 2010

But I love diet coke!

Ok, I have made it eleven hours without a diet drink. Two coffees and water so far. I bought some juices but can only have tiny amounts. I'm doing it now so I won't be so irritable when I travel in June. I have reason to believe I am suffering from aspartame poisoning. At least, that is what my friend Cindy says and I have often thought so from time to time in the past. Which is why I switched to Splenda. I am already trying to give up salt, sugar, fats, foods with seeds or kernels, white foods, red meats and cutting back on caffeine. Diet Coke/Pepsi/Dr. Pepper was the joy in my day. I tried the Splenda Coke and couldn't choke it down. So now it will be water, tea, or watered down juice.

So sad.

Anyway, I made the cous cous salad and some strawberry (yes, with seeds) onion, spinach salad.
And corn soup, yes with kernels. And if I don't get diverticulitis from it I will count my blessings and lay off corn for the rest of the summer. But a girls gotta live.

Wednesday, May 19, 2010

And here we go again.

I can't believe I inched back up to 223. I hate that number. I have been exercising and eating healthy most of the time and not large portions. OK, I didn't measure or weigh anything. And I used real butter. Had a few desserts. Honestly not many. But it crept back up on me.

So anyway, today I had cereal, banana and walnuts for breakfast with skim milk and coffee.
It is only 11am but I am having a turkey on whole wheat with lite mayo because I was craving protein and was generally hungry after going to the eye doctor and being dissappointed by CVS again, computer down again. Plus I have water aerobics at 11:45 and needed my energy and don't get home til after 1pm.

I plan on eating some stawberries and a peach, a dill pickle and maybe some peanuts in the shell for snacks.

I have corn on cob, fresh green peas and chicken salad for supper already prepared.

Tomorrow, I plan to make couscous salad. I haven't found whole wheat couscous yet. Guess I have to go to the health food store. I have spring onion, cucumber from the farm, mint and basil, Maybe cut half of a cob of corn into it as well. I will grill a chicken breast and have some peanut sauce to put on it. Will also make a strawberry, onion, spinach salad.

Friday will be shrimp Caesar salad and more couscous. Apple and peach. Yogurt breakfast with blueberries and walnuts.

This is how I usually eat. Maybe too much honey in the yogurt and too much dressing on the salad. Of course, there is the occasional ice custard or nifty bar. But that is occasional. Can't remember the last cookie I ate. I did have a piece of pineapple upside down cake when John and Linda were here because we celebrated his birthday. And I shared a molten lava cake with mom on Mother's Day. Bad, bad me. I guess I have to buy some more pickles, I ate a huge jar for snacks instead of fat or sugar snacks. Also ate wheat thins and laughing cow cheese for snacks. Carrots and humus. I guess I should just eat my meals off of salad plates. And my snacks off jar lids. and exercise more. But I am already exercising more than I have in years. What ever.

Hey Ya'll

Well, I have been awol for while. I do get that way. But watched Biggest Loser and got inspired. Those people are remarkable. I would be in jail for knocking Jillian senseless the second time she screamed at me.

Starting over with Kelly

She is doing South Beach online and I am doing sorta what she is doing.
Like no white food. Good healthy veg., fruit and whole grains. Sorta the same as I was doing before Mom took me to Sweet Berries for frozen yogurt cones.
I only buy good for me food. So I can't go far wrong. I am using smaller plates and actually bought Light Hellman's mayonaise. I bought laughing cow cheese, and individual one ounce mild cheddar for snacks. I bought the cereal they showed on Biggest Loser last night, I think its called "Just try to choke this fiber down, you big fat loser". But I'm not sure.
Today I ate an omlete for breakfast. Some romaine, tuna salad, dill pickle and crackers for lunch and 2 beef franks, leftover that Mom bought, and three half deviled eggs. I hate waste. I have to throw away one Easter egg because Mom won't look for it, so I couldn't throw away the rest and anyway Honey will be here tomorrow. And it's bad enough to make him choke down that cereal, a little mayo to help week old Easter eggs down the hatch can't hurt that much.

yeahaaaaa

burp...

so I got out of the house to exercise twice so far this week. Vic was able to pick me up at lunch time and leave me to stroll in town Monday and at a shopping center on Tuesday.

Been eating healthy, not measuring anything but eating good stuff.

I am so wanting to bake a chocolate cake. OR anything, I miss baking.

At the tractor supply store they are taking orders for chicks, quite a few kinds. I like leghorn foghorn. I wonder if you can fly with a box of chicks in the cabin. Also if they are allowed in backyards in Bradenton.

New York

Hard being inside all day. Yay! Tomorrow we go out to an Antique Show, lots of walking. Also Movie- Alice in Wonderland. 3D
Sunday we travel to some small town for Buckwheat pancakes at some famous restaurant from the 1930's. And some park.
Still no scale so I don't know my progress, but I am eating right. More or less. My clothes are not dropping off me though. Knitting and reading and watching tv don't burn many calories. Nor do washing clothes and cooking and washing dishes.

Sunday, February 28, 2010

Darn

I think I gained a lb. I won't know what's going on for three weeks while I am in NY because no scale here. I will have to be especially careful.

And mom made yummy pot roast with organic carrots, yum ok and potatoes but i only had a bit
I was so happy to wake up Sunday and find I was down a total of 11 lbs.

I had cereal with fruit (blueberries banana and strawberry) it was raisin bran.
Milk was 1 percent but I don't drink the milk. For lunch I finished off my Greek Yogurt with fruit and berries. It is about 4pm now and I am looking forward to leftovers of the pot roast. It will be harder this time to take a small portion as I am ravenous right now. I am thinking of making Kale chips this afternoon. It might be a good thing and so I guess I will.

So hope all of you are doing well with your efforts. I should go swim, but I guess I'm not. I am going to NY to spend three weeks with my Honey and the last time I did that I gained weight feeding HIM. Heh, heh. I need plans before I go. For diet and exercise as I won't have a car or YMCA.

Day two

OK, I didn't shop yesterday and didn't exactly count calories for the evening meal but I did estimate that 2 eggs and one white and a couple of tablespoons of onions and peppers, two thin slices of ham and 1 T cheddar and 1 T diet margarine and one English muffin were under 690. Otherwise I went over. I never got the menu done and had counted up til dinner. I am no good at organization. I struggle so hard to figure out how to put all the different foods and amounts into one day at the proper calorie number. Dr. OZ had a six-pack diet for some nurses that needed to lose weight. 1. plain Greek yogurt 2. can of salmon 3. whole wheat bagel with light cream cheese 4. apple 5. baggie of greens with peppers and 6. dark chocolate.
I could probably do that with the change of something with the yogurt for taste and changing the salmon which he called the FAT. I could eat some other fish or meat. They also had another nurse to guide them and a trainer at the gym one hour a day. With multi- vitamin and vitamin B.
I will get it together with your help.
At least I took my shot and pills this morning and had yogurt this morning.

Wednesday, February 10, 2010

Following suggestions

Will get Cheerios and greek yogurt, eggs and those Arnolds things, and scale for weighing. I have a calendar with workouts but not in plain view, it is in a folder. I am going to make the menus ahead and only buy what I need. And Mom put away most of her goodies which she said she bought for her "kids".

It's a new day

It's a new day to begin to do the right thing, make the right choice, stop procrastinating and just do it. I have asked for help from friends and family. I have good reasons to be motivated. So if you are reading this, please add a comment at the end. I will need all the help I can get.

I have and Idea of what I want to do to start. Which is to cut out sugar completely, lower fat and carbs. I want to eat good carbs and cut bread to a minimum. I have a sweet tooth, but breads are my downfall. So for my first two weeks I will cut bread out completely. I am going to try counting calories and will go for 1200 a day in small 300 or 400 meals and 1 or 200 snacks to keep my sugar level even and protect my eyes and veins.

I have diabetes and will actually test my sugar daily, sometimes more than once to keep close control. In the past I have gone a year without testing and the last time I went for a long period of not testing my sugar had risen to 600. I doubt I will get by doing that many times without a stroke. So I really need to do better. I know I will have to adjust my meds and see the doctor more often.

Additionally, I have become a member of the YMCA and am enrolled in arthritis water classes. I love to swim as well and can do that for aerobics. For exercise, I have taken up fishing but it has been to cold lately to fish. I also have a bike but haven't actually gone riding yet, though I am able and could work up to several miles a day. Just don't know why I haven't done it yet. Cold is just an excuse for now.

The fact is, it is past 11:30 am and I haven't taken my meds or eaten anything yet because I am frightened to begin and probably fail again. Also haven't weighted. My scale is lame and not accurate but I can afford a better one. I should buy one and a scale to weigh food if I really plan on calorie counting. Guessing hasn't worked in the past.

So I guess I will go take care of the things I need to do. Take meds. Fix some oatmeal and fruit. And count the calories. Plan the rest of the meals for the day and get off to the Y.
Will see what happens.
